Meet Our Director

TeresaJet Cities is thrilled to introduce our director, Teresa McCafferty.

Our director since 2005, Teresa also sings with Livewire, the 2010 Region 13 Championship Quartet. In addition, Teresa may be familiar to many of you as the tenor of Unplugged, the 2006 Sweet Adelines International Seventh Place Quartet Medalists.

Teresa has been a barbershopper since 1991, when she joined Pacific Sound Chorus, where she was an assistant director, tenor section leader and a member of the Music and Teaching Teams. She began quartetting in 1992 with Rainier Rhythm, winning the Novice Quartet Award at their first contest. In 1994, she won her first Region 13 quartet contest with Park Place. Following that, Teresa has brought home five more regional championships: TrademarK (1996), Seattle Style (1998-2000), and Unplugged (2001) and LiveWire (2008, 2009 and 2010). With Unplugged, Teresa had four International Top Ten placements and a mic testing spot (11th). Not bad!!

Oh... and did we mention that Teresa and her quartet sang for President Bush in 2004? Ask her about it if you get the chance!

Regionally, Teresa is a frequent faculty member for area workshops, assists with coaching and PVIs, and is the current Quartet Development Coordinator. Along with Anna Chamberlain (also a member of Jet Cities), Teresa founded the Sea-Adelines Education Endowment Fund, designed to provide financial support for the promotion, education and development of quartet singing in Region 13.

Teresa is from a musical family. Her mother, Chris, sings with Jet Cities and her brother, Christopher, studied Vocal Performance Degree at Pacific Lutheran University. Lacey performanceChristopher has sung with several groups around the Seattle area, including the Seattle Opera and Seattle Choral Company, but to Teresa's chagrin, not barbershop. Older brother John lives in Philadelphia, setting up sound equipment and instruments for concerts; he's worked with BB King, Elton John, Willie Nelson and the recent Live 8 Concert, to name a few. Teresa's dad, John, can sing ... but doesn't! However, he attends all contests and shows, and is typically the one tearing up and mouthing all the words.

In her "civilian" life, Teresa works for a yacht insurance agency. She is not married, and has no children nor pets, but counts hundreds of admirers throughout the barbershop world as part of her family. Jet Cities' members number ourselves among them and feel very fortunate to have her as our director. We look forward to accomplishing bigger and better things together.

Come and see for yourself; visit a rehearsal soon.
